Here is a brief summary about me.
I came to Us from Trinidad and Tobago with big dreams, they did not happened right away. I had to work at many different capacities making a living. I wen through a lot since comming to the US in 1989. I also worked as a Nurses Aid with a disabled men then I decided to go back to school and I graduated with AAS Nursing from Kingsborough Community college in 1998. My GPA was not as I wanted it to be because I had to work full time and had a family to support.
The program I am applying for is RN to MSN with the concentration in Nursing Administration. I have been a Nurse since 1998. All of my Nursing Career I have been working in Beth Israel Medical center first as a Graduate Nurse and then RN/ Charge Nurse on the Medical-Surgical Nurse. I am excellent at what I do and I love it. I frequently take charge, my colleagues rely on me as one of the more senior Nurses. I think I am ready for the career advancement now that my daughter is in College

A Goal Statement

The Doctorate in Education program is a challenge that I hope to pursue successfully toward my long-term goal of teaching at university level. In the short term, my commitment to the happiness, health, welfare, and educational success of my four children is my primary life orientation. The availability of on-line higher education has enabled me to further my education within the very limited time available after the fulfillment of my family obligations.


In that respect, I have learned disciplined time management skills that enable me to balance the effort to provide scholastic support for three school-age children, as well as the needs of an infant and a very understanding spouse without whose support, encouragement, and sacrifices the same responsibilities might be overwhelming. Luckily, the combination of my family responsibilities and my efforts toward my educational success has enabled me to develop the necessary skills to succeed in the doctorate program as well. Specifically, the successive opportunity to assist three school-age children one after the other has already contributed to my teaching abilities in a way that comports perfectly with the vocational requirements of my chosen profession.


In the long term, I hope to apply some of the same fundamental communication skills and the learned ability to motivate each student in a manner most consistent with his or her natural talents and to recognize the varied educational needs of many different students. Naturally, my practical experience is limited to primary, middle-school and high school subject matter, but in principle, I believe many of the elements conducive to success as an educator are fundamentally similar at every level of the educational continuum. Ultimately, I hope to apply the skills I acquire in the doctorate program to benefit of as many others as possible.

Personal qualities: strong educational track record for accomplishing my goals and objectives, as far as my teamwork skills it is an important element, however; the relations between team members must be solid/conducive in order to stay focus on accomplishing our goals at hand. My interpersonal skills are in the mode of minimizing conflicts/building group commitment, influencing others/motivate, and to give constructive criticism/praise when needed. In as much, the teamwork/interpersonal skills that I have will contribute to my success in the EDD HEAL program.

Work experience: as far as work experience, a part-time substitute teacher Woodstock, IL Dist. # 200 k-12 areas, volunteer in teaching adults for preparation for the GED test, and teaching young-adults reading and math skills.

Academic experience- As for my undergraduate and graduate experience both in Justice Administration. As a part of both programs Administrative Law/Management it required to evaluate, synthesize, and integrate rather complex concepts. The testing in both of these programs was designed to measure my comprehension of various materials derived primarily in self directed study in the course. Based upon this, I feel very comfortable in saying that I have the ability to manage and complete the doctorate program.
